Who do I contact in the case of breech of contract?
So a vendor that I worked with a while back didn't complete their services according to the contract. I was supposed to have goods delivered to me and they were never delivered - in excess of 3k. The kicker is at one time she was here in the Tristate area but has subsequently moved to Iowa. I have tried in the several years I have been waiting (I know my first mistake) to be patient and giver the Benefit of the doubt... Have compassion as she was going through some personal struggles... But now I'm just angry. She ignores me at every opportunity I make to reach her.
Do I attempt legal action in NY or in Iowa...

breach of contract actions generally carry a six year statue of limitations - how long has it been?
if it's a detailed contract - is there language in there that tells you where disputes would be governed/what law would be applied?

Hmmm it's been exactly 6yrs. Sad to say it's my wedding video. I don't think it's that detailed - I have to look ?? oh I'm sad now

you may have luck still on your side. It is 6 years in NY but it is not the same for every state. It is 10 in Iowa. You should seek counsel in Iowa.

Also, the breach of the contract occurred when they failed to provide the video, so you could argue that whatever date they were supposed to provide the video and failed to do so is when the breach occurred and then count the 6 years from then on. Either way I would serve them with a Summons with Notice right away to preserve your right to sue them.

File suit in small claims, serve her in Iowa. You don't need an attorney in small claims.
