Accidents during sleep

My DD has been fully potty trained for about half a year now. Never any accidents while she is awake and its been great. She sleeps in a pull up and we used to put one on for naptime too. She always wakes up from bedtime wet. Nap is very short and we always have her pee before nap so I figured it was safe to just have her nap in underwear but she keeps wetting herself while she is asleep even if she peed beforehand. Is this normal? I feel bad that she is not sleep-trained-potty-trained but I am clueless as how to do it. She will be 3 next month and I am tired of having to use pullups before every nap and bedtime. Any suggestions?

Re: Accidents during sleep

I have the same thing.
Tried to night train for 2 weeks without success with my older child (almost 5) after my younger (3) has been dry for half a year at night. She has been in undies for a while.
Didn't work.
Put him back in diapers & will wait...

How are you supposed to night train? dd is 5 and still wets pull up at night. I think in part because she's a heavy sleeper?

Re: Accidents during sleep

I have no idea! DD has been potty trained almost 2 years but still wakes up wet most mornings & she's going to be 4!
At least it seems kinda common but it would be nice to be done with pull ups!!!

Re: Accidents during sleep

Unless you are going to wake her at night to use the potty, I think you just need to wait until she gets a little older. There is such a wide range of when kids are night trained. Short of limiting fluids within an hour or two before bed, there isn't much to do. Many kids are day trained for months or even years before they're night trained. It more has to do with their bodies being ready and how deep they sleep than anything else.

Accidents during sleep

According to my pediatrician night "training" is about body maturity and the "signal" the bladder sends to the brain. It is not something you can necessarily teach the body to do. She said kids as old as 6-8 years old are usually ready. Sometimes even up to 10

Re: Accidents during sleep

My youngest will be 5 in two weeks & trained for over a year. There are weeks we go with no accidents at night but the last 2 weeks he has woke up in the am completely soaked & I'm washing sheets daily. I do not have him in a pull up but underwear & use bedmats but still.

We make sure he has no liquids after 6pm, pees twice before bed but he's also a heavy sleeper.
