Has anyone been to Charleston?
DH and I are going away for a long weekend in September to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. I'm looking for hotel and restaurant recommendations as well as fun things to do. Is it a good idea to rent a car? We will probably stay in the historic district. Thanks!

we just went a couple weeks ago- for our 10th anniversary getaway, too! HAHA we stayed at the King Charles Inn. We REALLY liked it! right downtown, you could walk to any restaurants or anything you wanted to. They're also one of the only downtown hotels that have their own parking lot for guests (so you don't have to circle downtown trying to find street parking), AND a small pool, too they do a happy hour every day from 4:30-5:30. free cheese, crackers, grapes, etc.. and discounts on drinks from the bar They also do a cookie and hot tea set up from 8-9 every night. Just little stuff like that we really liked. It wasn't the cheapest- ended up about $250/$300 a night-- but for something like a 10th anniversary, it was worth a splurge as far as restaurants. we LOVED Hyman's seafood- casual, but SO SO good!!! We also like Toast- Sweet Tea glazed chicken!!! HAHA we took a day trip to Edisto Island beach (about an hour away) for a beach day. We also toured Fort Sumter (nice ferry ride out to the fort) and the Patriots Point ( old aircraft carrier and submarine you can tour). We also did a horse and carriage tour, too. it was our first time there- and we LOVED LOVED it!! it was the perfect place for a kid-free getaway... romantic, SO many great restaurants, and just a nice place to walk around holding hands after dinner HAHA
