That's what happened to me during Season 1, and I never watched it again. I actually stayed awake during this episode so I'm gonna give it a shot.

True Detective season 2
I watched it. I am going to give it a shot because I loved the first season. It took about 3 eps of the first season for me to get hooked and I read an article yesterday that said the first ep is a really big set up and the second ep will have you hooked.

True Detective season 2
Season 1 was meh.. I liked the first episode of Season 2.. I was tuning in a out, but still kept my attention... hopefully episode 2 will seal with deal.. !? idk

True Detective season 2
I just watched ep 1. I wonder how they're going to tie all of these characters together. I feel like everyone raved about season 1 but I didn't love it... Hoping this season is better!

They show at the end of the episode how all the characters will be tied together - they're all standing over that guys body and in the previews for this weeks episode (which i haven't watched yet), they show them all working together on the case.
I'm torn about it - i really liked the first season, but after watching the first episode of this season, i feel so depressed. Other than cinematography, its just so dark and depressing it seems. I'm not sure i want to watch something where i don't like any of the characters and they're all just so dark and dreary. But, i'm definitely willing to give it a try for at least another few episodes

I only watched the first episode so far and I liked it. I love all of the actors and am excited where it's going to go.

I'm giving up.. i watched episode 3 and was bored out of my skull.
i felt like i was watching an art film in college that i was being made to watch and then we'd all sit around talking about the meaning of all those highway shots and the cinematography 
seriously, the dialogue was awful, the story is going nowhere and i just don't care about any of them
its really too bad!
