Has anyone ever hired an overnight nanny/sitter/nurse for a newborn?
Has anybody ever hired a babysitter to take care of a newborn for overnight duty?
We have a newborn (preemie) and he requires a lot of special attention (constant temp monitoring, feeds every three hours). I might look to hire a sitter 2x a week to help out with this and would be looking for overnight duty so we can try to get a night or two of sleep and not go insane. I guess this would be similar to an Au Pair, but we are not ready to go that route yet... just looking for something temporary until he starts sleeping more through the night and gains some more weight.
If somebody has hired someone like this can you share your experiences and what the costs were? FM is fine. TIA.

I had a baby nurse for dd1 and will have one for dd2.
As a ftm last time I wanted to baby to sleep in my room andi nursed and did all feelings..so it really was a waste since I did everything, even all night time stuff.
Cost is 250 a day normally. They book up very, very early (like the moment people find out they're pregnant), but you may get lucky and someone may be between jobs.

Referrals. Somebody had used them prior. I know there are agencies too, but we never went that route.
Also, the price I said was for live in. I'm sure just night time is cheaper. My friend did that when she lived in the city for a couple nights a week bc her dd was a very bad sleeper and she was working fullt time and needed some sleep.

I used Frances Stewart agency. They are top notch. Also heard good things about Austin agency. I paid $300/day for triplets. About $150 for just nights.

YES! I did it for both my children and highly recommend it...especially since you have a premie and there is so much to do. We used Austin Agency both times. We had different nurses both times but they were both amazing! So sweet, loving, knowledgeable, helpful, etc.
I dont recall the cost, but i believe its a one week minimum. In addition to their pay, you pay for their transportation (LIRR ticket or gas money) and all of their food.
FM if you have questions
eta- i just reread it...we had her with us 24/7 for a week. But i do believe they have night only options available.

Yes this is what I need. I have the ability to have a live-in as well, but for now I am just looking for a few nights a week to get some sanity.
ETA: Are most of these agencies based in the city? I am in Nassau County so would prefer somebody out here if possible.
