Best Dairy Free Milk
What dairy free milk do you recommend?
I am cutting dairy and eggs out of my DS' diet to see how his eczema responds. I think I have already identified one trigger (PB ). I also need to cut it out of my diet since I am still BFing.
I would love something that is similar to milk since well, I love milk...
Any other recommendations for dairy free items would be appreciated. I am going to try the daiya cheese and the so delicious yogurt.

Re: Best Dairy Free Milk
We LOVE almond milk The unsweetened vanilla is just delicious and creamy. Tastes way better than regular milk IMO
I don't buy cow's milk anymore (only for recipes). We don't have issues with dairy or anything, (we eat cheese like it's going out of style, and regular yogurt) but to me the almond milk just tastes better, has less calories and more calcium.

Re: Best Dairy Free Milk
My DS had a slight milk allergy so when we transitioned him from formula to milk we used almond milk (unsweetened). He drank it until he was about 2 (he wouldn't drink it after stopping bottles). The vanilla one might be more appealing since it has some flavor but we only stuck to the original.

Re: Best Dairy Free Milk
almond/coconut blend is my favorite and I think it's the most similar to milk. Like it has to right viscosity, not too thin and watery. I had to cut nuts though too so I j just went with coconut based milk.
daiya 'cheese' is grosssss. It just tastes like slimy, chalky, spices. I just go without cheese.
So Delicious yogurt is yummy but so expensive.
Helpful hint - if you bake, you need to put a tablespoon of AC vinegar in the dairy free milk or it won't work right, and coconut oil replaces butter in a 1:1 ratio.

DD has a milk allergy, so she gets almond milk. We also use So Delicious Coconut Milk Yogurt for her instead of regular yogurt. It's actually really good and she loves it.

Re: Best Dairy Free Milk
We do almond milk because we are a mostly dairy free household by choice. My dds transitioned from dairy milk to it and never noticed a difference that they complained about. We eat limited cheese because we haven't found an alternative that we care for.

Re: Best Dairy Free Milk
Cashew milk! I'm vegan so I've tried pretty much all the dairy free milk types and this is my favorite. It has a smooth texture. Silk makes it and I've bought it at Stop and Shop.
ETA: Daiya products are great; they don't have any soy either which is a plus. For butter I use Earth Balance- Soy free version- the red one. It's all natural, no chemicals like in margarine.

We give DS Hemp Milk. The nutritional profile to us was better than the other non-dairy milks.

We love unsweetened almond and coconut milk. Coconut milk is slightly more "milk" tasting to me. Maybe bc it looks like real milk. We buy the whole foods 365 brand but my parents prefer the stop and shop natures promise brand. These are pretty much the only two brand we can drink because all others contain carrageenan. We avoid that at ALL costs as it is currently controversial because it inflames the body. I have an autoimmune disease and DD has asthma so we avoid.

Thanks. I bought the unsweetened vanilla almond milk - it's ok, but so thin. I will most likely try a few other dairy free options.

I like the unsweetened almond/coconut blend the best. I like the thickness of it better then the regular almond milk. I can't find it at every store though.
