Mother's Helper
anyone that has a one..can you tell me what your Mother's Helper does? I am not sure how this is different from a nanny. Thanks.

Mother's Helper
i think of a mother's helper as someone who's there while you're still there, too..... so like an 11/12 year old that you might not want to completely leave alone with your child while you go out--- but they come over and play with the kids and keep them out of your way while you're getting stuff done around the house, or just lock yourself in your room and read a magazine HAHA

Yes. Above is what I always assumed too. A nanny would be actual childcare. Rather than bringing kiddo to a home daycare, having that 'teacher' come to your house to babysit while you're at work - preparing meals, doing projects, lessons, etc. A mother's helper is more like a child/preteen that you'd be home with who just entertains kiddo while you do what you need to do. I was a mother's helper for a woman at my church when I was something like 10 years old.
