Looking at cruise itineraries for Disney

I have only cruised 2xs before many years ago. I never was interested in many days at sea.

BUT, I notice the 7night cruise has 3 days at sea. Is there enough to do for all that we are not antsy & bored?

My girls will be 6 & 8 and in just talking the already want to do the club!

TIA

There is so much to do on a Disney Cruise, you could never be bored, and if you are, you have issues LOL. There is seriously so much. Movie theater with first run movies, organized activities in the "D Lounge" which has TONS of family themed events, events in the kid's clubs, the pools/aqua duck, etc. so so much! We couldn't do it all. Look up "Disney Navigators" and you will see the scans of the the daily events.

My sister did that cruise with her two kids who were 6 & 8 too and they got really bored. I guess it all depends on the kids.

Wow, I've never heard of kids being bored on a Disney Cruise. Very unusual. However, I guess each kid is different!

I know kids that sit on their ipad or watch TV all day, and if thrown into a mix of tons of different activities involving other kids, they probably wouldn't have fun!

I haven't been on a Disney cruise, but I don't think kids of that age should ever be bored on a cruise.

We took my 7 year old and he had a blast, in the kid's club, not in the kid's club. There should be plenty to do.

I would be so pissed if my kid got bored on a ship w a zillion things to doChat Icon

it was a very last minute trip and I am sure she (my sister) didnt even have a clue how much there was to do since she never even really looked into anything. But it was really just all the days at sea straight that bothered them. I also think some people (and kids) just dont like cruises.

You get the Navigators in your room each day with the endless amount of activities on the ship during port days, and even more activities on sea days. So last minute planning doesn't even matter. We planned our cruise 3 weeks out.

I am going to say that those children definitely aren't the norm, and that MOST kids have fun on a Disney cruise. There is mini golf, pools, a water roller coaster, arcade, computers, video games, a movie theater with first run movies, family games, family crafts, activities, the kids clubs that have parties, cooking classes, animation classes, PJ parties, character interaction, etc. etc. Definitely no time to be bored at all!

Didn't do the 7 day cruise (did the 4 night) and my kids were 6, 8 and 2 (older 2 are boys) and no one was ever bored. My kids rather be on the ship then on the land! The private island was awesome though. My boys loved the water slides, the sports areas, the pools, and the kids club on the boat. We vacation a lot on resorts and never once have my kids had interest in a kids club. This trip they couldn't get enough of it. They were begging to go (although we limited it for family time and my daughter was too young for kids club and the babysitting room was boring and seemed too young for her (it is nothing in comparison to the kids club area). The day we stopped at key west - we got off for a short time and the kids were bored so we went back on the boat to get more boat time!!

I had never liked cruises before this one. We loved it so much that we booked another cruise while on the boat. We are going again this summer and my kids now 10, almost 8 and 4 - can't wait to go. This time we are doing a 5 day and the one that stops at the private island twice.

Re: Looking at cruise itineraries for Disney

Great responses, thank you!

I have no doubt my kids will love it. They are into anything hands on, interactive, group kids stuff. Not shy girls either.

How are the ports? That's my concern...when I cruised in the past unless you did an excursions there wasn't anything to do (I think the private island isn't that way)
Are the excursions at the ports worth it?

That I can't answer. Our ship stopped at Nassau and we stayed on the boat to take advantage of everyone being off the boat! Perfect time to ride Aqua Duck over and over. Castaway Cay (their private island) was our other stop, and that place is awesome. Our cruise this Summer stops there twice, and once at Nassau (we will again stay on board in Nassau).

We just went in April. Our group had kids 5 mos-13 years. There is something for them to do every minute! Don't give it a second thought!

Word of caution: At Castaway Cay, our kids got horrible itchy rashes from Sea Lice in the water. There are signs up with warnings.

Ugh, we got stung by them in a couple of places last time. I plan to buy Sea Lice Repellent this time (Sea Safe on Amazon)

Yes, Safe Sea is a must...it has SPF also, so win win situation.
