Party food expectations

I usually have a little birthday playdate at our house on the day of DDs bday.
Since it's usually around 11am, I just put out bagels, fruit, veggie platter & some other snacks followed by a cake.
My friends are used to this so I know they won't expect anything else but DD would like to invite her little pre school friends this year & every party we've been to has pizza.
I will also make a quiche & chicken salad to have some more variety but will it be a disappointment if there is no pizza or hot food?
I feel like pizza is just expected when you go to a kids party these days.

Not at all. I think pizza is the most common because it's easy, cheap, and widely liked. Both our sons' parties this past year were in the morning (I think 10 and 10:30), so we did basically what you mentioned- bagels, fruit, some spreads, etc. everyone was perfectly satisfied!

I think that's perfectly fine. Maybe grab some mini muffins for any kids who don't like bagels.

I'm sick of pizza (but, yes, it's easy & cheap, so I understand it).

I don't really think there should be expectations for pizza. What you planned is fine.

We are doing pizza for my DD's bday party, it's at a farm and pizza is just easy.
When we have our little family get together for cake we are still keeping it simple.. A Hero, Salad, Macaroni Salad & Potato Salad.

We've been to a bunch of kid parties that serve bagels. I think you're fine.

I actually prefer your menu. Pizza is just an easy thing and some places include it in their party package, so that's why you see a lot of kids parties serve pizza. Stick with what you were thinking.

I think your menu is fine! I tend to do pizza just because it's super easy but I would be fine bringing my kid to a party and would not expect more than what is on your menu. I recently took my kid to a party for a preschool friend and was pretty annoyed because they served PB&J sandwiches, fish sticks, and various items with nuts in it at a 4 year old birthday party not knowing if there were any kids with allergies. My kids haven't had any of that yet because of sever family allergies. I plan on getting them allergy tested this year but IMO I don't think it should have been served at a preschoolers party. I think your menu is perfect and more suitable for a pre schoolers bday party.
