Toddler temper tantrums...
My DD is almost 18 months and has begun to throw tantrums. She plops down on the floor and trows her self backwards and lays on the floor and cries. Today it was over her not being able to carry her doll, her cup and another toy at the same time. I try to help her and she just freaks and flings herself down. I have been just walking away from her and igoring it until she stands up and comes to me for comfort. Since she is so yound she can't verbally communicate what she wants clearly so I know that maybe she is just getting frustrated but still..I try to tell her to point and show me what what she wants but when she gets worked up its a mess..Not sure what else to do to nip this in the bud.

I distract dd and it lasts not even a minute. I don't give in or enable her. Just divert her attention.

I ask DD "what does Hannah want" and she realizes I'm trying to help her and will sometimes blurt out what she wants. Other times the just carries on or doesn't know what she wants. Then I ignore.
