labor starting outside of hospital - questions
little nervous the baby could come before I get induced, that the only way I know... I didn't really count contractions then cause I was already at the hospital...
how do you know the contractions are strong enough that they are worth counting the time apart between them?
when do you actually drive to the hospital?

When you starting feeling them consistently then start timing them. Call the dr. when you start to time them and they should tell you when to proceed to the hospital.

Honestly I was so nervous too. When I had my contractions I knew. They are much more painful & consistent then Braxton hicks. In my case, they would be so intense that I had to just stand still until it passed. By the time I got to hospital, I was 6cm. Contractions only started at 944, at hospital by 1130

You will feel them get stronger- to the point of really hurting not just being a little uncomfy.
Then time them. I had an app on my phone for this- it helped.
Once you see a regular pattern, call your OB or his service- they will advise you

I went to the hospital when they started really hurting & I forget how many minutes they were apart, but it was consistent & got closer.

I timed mine, realized they were 4 mins apart, and called the dr. I was not in pain; I just felt a tightening consistently. I had no pain until they broke my water. I had DS 90 mins later.

I timed mine and when they become consistent call your dr. They will let you know how far apart each contraction should be before coming in. It can depend on how far you are from the hosp as well.
IF your water breaks you go immediately.

The rule I believe is 5-1-1..Five minutes apart, lasting for 1 minute long and consistent for 1 hour. Then call the OB.

Yep! This exactly. Doing the math, that would mean about 11-12 contractions within an hour.
