PT advice please! goes for sitter but not at home
Any advice would be appreciated. My 1st son was so easy to potty train. He was done in 1 weekend and at 2 ½.
My 2nd son turned 3 in January and has been a struggle. Our sitter has been helping to PT him for weeks now and likes us to send him in underwear. He’s been going on the potty (except poop) there and everything and has had no accidents in weeks. AT HOME… it’s another story. He was great in the beginning and even started to say “I have to go potty.” Awesome! But then it all stopped.
We have a sticker rewards chart. We do rewards. We clap. We sing. Our 7 year old even gets involved and excited for him.
But now he’s having accidents all the time. We’ve resorted to putting him back in pull ups and our sitter is kind of frustrated about that. But when we’re home, he pees and poops himself. I try to have him sit on the potty like every 45 minutes so there aren’t accidents. But the minute we’re not on top of him… he goes in his pants. Sometimes he even goes upstairs to hide and do it. We have 3 kids (one of them being a 6 month old baby) so I can’t always be on top of him, even though I try my hardest.
I honestly feel like he’s doing it on purpose and to be spiteful. I know how that sounds, but I really think that. Sometimes the more you push, the more he shuts off. Now this is not a kid who gets no attention and it’s all about attention with this. He actually gets the MOST attention out of all 3 of them and always has (had a speech delay and was in E.I, so he had all of our focus for a long time). Trust me, there is no ignoring this child! LOL! Even with the baby, I’m always on the floor with him or sitting next to him while doing puzzles or games.
Any suggestions welcome! I just don’t know what to do about it anymore. I don’t want to push him, but he’s clearly doing it at the sitters house with no accidents. Obviously it’s about a power struggle that he’s not willing to give up. Is there any way to change this?

I would say he is doing it on purpose and it might be because if the new baby in the house. It is common for regression when there are major changes in the home.
Can you have a conversation with him. I know at 3 my ds can understand and I can reason with him to a point. I know many will disagree with me but I give my son consequences when he does stuff for spite. And the hiding upstairs and going is spite IMO. An accident is an accident but the other times would bother me.

Unfortunately no. My 1st at 3 years old, i could reason with. This one... he's irrational first, then maybe he'll listen. Maybe!
So should i start putting him in time out when he does this?
The other day i got so frustrated that i left him soaking wet and with poop while he sat in time out for something. I don't think it phased him though.

I'd put him in no undies, no pants again at your house. When he goes accident free, reintroduce one at a time. He understands...
