Getting excused from jury duty
Do they still do if you are the one to be home with the kids during the day...I have a 2 year old and a 10 month old...I work 2 days a week but the other days I have no one to watch them....do I have to actually being them to court to be excused? I only got the questionaire in the mail so I know the summons is coming soon

Re: Getting excused from jury duty
My DH got excused as he is retired and the primary care giver for my DD. He sent in a letter with a copy of her birth certirficate and explained he does not work currnetly and is her primary care giver in the daytime. It worked. They never called him

Actually he didn't write the letter until he got a notice to start calling in. There are instructions on that summons telling you what to do if you need an excusal. I have a copy of the letter if you need the wording we used.

That would be great if you have a copy handy and don't mind messagein it to me...I'm horrible with wording letters...lol..I wouldn't mind going if I knew it for a day or two but my husband is a cop and his schedule it so unreliable some times that I couldn't rely on him to watch the kids...thanks again

Re: Getting excused from jury duty
My DH got the questionnaire in the mail a few years ago. He filled it out and sent it back in, he hasn't got a notice for Jury Duty yet.

Re: Getting excused from jury duty
I've been excused several times in the last 2 years. Write a letter stating that as a stay home mother to a two year old and ten month old, you respectfully request an excusal from serving at this time. Say you're the primary care giver, your husband works full time, and you have no other childcare options. You'll need to include copies of your kids' birth certificates, but it shouldn't be a problem at all.
