Atlantic City beaches or beach near AC
What's the casino boardwalk beach like? I feel like I remember it having a bad reputation (maybe the water itself) when I was younger. But what is it like now? Thanks!
ETA: it looks like my memories are correct. If we were to stay in AC, where is a good beach to drive to for the day as 2 adults?

Atlantic City beaches
I don't like the Boardwalk. Certain places are still seedy and last time I walked it, I felt like there were a lot of unsavory people asking for handouts. That some of the hotels/casinos have closed doesn't help either.

i grew up in NJ and went to school about 20 minutes from AC (Stockton college! LOL ) if you want a little of AC and the beach... check into Ocean City, NJ. its maybe 30 minutes away from AC. its really family-friendly. nice boardwalk with rides, games, food, etc. nice clean beaches and just a nice area. so you could rent a house or condo or whatever there, and then take a drive to AC to check that out if you want to

Okay, so what about the opposite. If we were to stay in AC but take a day trip to a beach as 2 adults, where should we go?

Brigantine is about 10 minutes away. We rent there every summer and LOVE it. Somewhat of a sleepy town, very family friendly. There is an awesome tiki bar though right on the beach called Laguna. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Re: Atlantic City beaches or beach near AC
I went last summer...
The beach is not any worse than typical NY or LI beaches (clearly much worse than Florida or Caribbean).
There were surf competitions & tons of people in the water.
I prefer cape may (about 30 minutes south) because it is family friendly... But seriously, the water is all the same.
The boardwalk had a fair number of homeless people, but we never felt unsafe or harassed.

Re: Atlantic City beaches or beach near AC
Thank you for all the replies. We definitely will be staying in AC. That's the only way we can afford a few days away just the two of us (bc the room is comped lol). We're going away with DS to Lancaster in the summer. I desperately wanted a beach or outdoor pool, but we will make do.

Re: Atlantic City beaches or beach near AC
I used to go a lot when I was younger. The one time we tried the beach it was really gross. I remember the sand had a lot of garbage in it, we didn't stay long. We did the pool I believe at the Tropicana once also, if I remember correctly. I think it was a rooftop pool and wasn't too nice either.
I haven't been there in years but maybe see if your hotel has an outdoor pool?

Brigantine beach. I also really like Diamond Beach and Cape May in NJ.
