Not sure how big of a group you are going with, but I highly recommend checking out vrbo.com for New Orleans. We stayed in a house in the Marigny/Bywater District. It was cheap and soooo cool. We lived like locals for a weekend! Plus, we were walking distance to the French Market, Bourbon Street, and tons of attractions. The hotels are located wayyyy on the other side and just has a completely different feel- very touristy. Here's some pictures of the amazing house we stayed in...
