no.. I have more to the story.. the kid is fine.. she was honestly very upset about it. But it was NOT intentional. It was kids being kids. It was discussed and handled. No need for the teacher to bring it up. It upsets ME because when it happened to AJ it was intentional, painful and bullying and no one blinked.
Double standard
eta; Its been DAYS since the kick.. the boy is fine with her and she keeps saying sorry to him and she feels like she must now treat him like he's a glass ornament. She's been very diligent about watching her legs and kicking now. She didn't MEAN to kick him there but kick him away.
SO why days later with obvious improvement must the teacher bring it up?
Posted by Xelindrya I got back one that was topic related then a 'side note' that said "I was way more concerned when she kicked a friend in the privates yesterday and told me she meant it!"
ok fine.. she messed up. Big deal.
According to this it was intentional. So of course it needed to be addressed.
And I'm sure it was a big deal to the boy and his parents. Just as the situation with your daughter was big deal to you.
Funny how you can see things differently depending what side you're on.
I definitely wouldn't push this issue any further.

I completely understand that you are annoyed that after the issue was addressed, the teacher felt the need to bring it up again, days later as a "side note" to a totally unrelated issue.
That said however, I wouldn't waste my time getting snarky with the teacher. It will not accomplish a thing.

Vent.. AJ kicked a boy
If a little girl kicked my son in the privates - intentionally or not - apologetic or not- I would not be happy.
And I would want the teacher to:
-tell me -tell the parent of the kid who kicked my son
All parties should be aware.
As a child, I have never been hit or kicked by another kid (that I can recall). I do recall a few boys fighting and one time a girl threw a rock and caused stitches in another girl's head.
With the world it is today - with seeing footage of those assshole teens fighting in Bk, all violence - any violence - at ANY AGE and for ANY REASON - should be reported, punished, communicated, discussed ..
Just my opinion.
And if my son kicked a girl? In the privates ? Intentionally or not? Sad over it or not ? He would want a new mommy in two seconds. Goes both ways.
Again, jMO.

Re: Vent.. AJ kicked a boy
I think you have to look at this situation as a separate issue from what happened to your daughter. Both kids were wrong here and yes, kids make mistakes. I teach Kindergarten and my students are fighting one second, best friends the next.
I teach them to tell an adult if someone bothers them and even walk away from that kid if they need to. Reacting only will get them in trouble as well.
I think the problem here is that you have a side issue with the teacher which was a catalyst to bring up the kicking. To be honest, I think the teacher should have brought that to your attention earlier. Why did she wait for you to "set her off"?
Regardless of anything, I don't think you have a right to be mad. Your daughter made a bad decision and you, and her, have to take responsibility for that. Nothing to flip out about. This stuff happens.
I hope you're able to resolve this situation.

yeah thats why its a vent I said nothing Did nothing
And of COURSE AJ was disciplined. We don't kick friends. However I've been hard on her to say the truth at all times. So was it intentional? yes because accidental kick would be say running and something gets in front of you, swimming and someone gets too close to your feet, rolling on the floor giggling and kick someone on accident. Intentional is you were kicking knowing it could hit someone. Whether you meant to or not, you were kicking and kicking for the sake of kicking is wrong, PERIOD.
I didn't go into detail because I didn't think it was needed. But I would NOT let AJ slide with a kick. But I appreciate her honesty.
I completely accept that I am 100% being an unreasonable grumpy pants about the teacher. But that doesn't mean I'd teach or allow my child to cause harm to another, just because.
Thanks for setting me straight. Deep down I knew I was wrong. But some times.. you just get upset. But I did keep my mouth shut and didn't send an email or say a thing to the teacher (OR my daughter, she doesn't need to know).
Is it summer yet?

Re: Vent.. AJ kicked a boy
To be honest, when another child grabbed your girl's crotch you were up in arms and ready to call the police. Now that your daughter kicked a boy in the crotch intentionally, you seem defensive. As a mom of a boy I would be horrified if a child kicked in him in the scrotum. That could cause permanent damage.

May I just give a great big kudos to you for this reply? Accepting "constructive criticism" is never easy and most difficult when it comes to our parenting decisions. Of course, you are not the only one but in general, most replies to responses similar to what you received are way more defensive.
