Maine with kids
We're thinking of going to Maine in July with my 4 year old. Anyone been? Where did you stay? What are some fun things to do?

Re: Maine with kids
We went to Bar Harbor last summer for 5 days and had such a great time. Acadia is great for bike riding around (we brought a "trailer" for our little one) and the town is fun to stroll around in. My kids loved the "Reel Pizza" for an evening activity - it is a pizza place/movie theatre combo with comfy seats at tables where you can eat while watching the movie. The water was chilly for swimming, even in summer, so I would recommend a hotel with a nice heated pool.

Went to Maine prior to being a mom, and we cannot wait to go again with dd! As long as you think dc can withstand the car ride, bar harbor is great. The town is fun but casual, there's lots of activities (including mini golf). There's also a bunch of coastal towns not as far away, but bar harbor and Acadia is breathtaking.

Re: Maine with kids
We have a summer place up there. I highly recommend staying in southern Maine like Old Orchard, Sebago Lake area. There are amusement parks, beaches & mini day trips
Bar Harbor is nice but it's s hike in terms of driving from NY. Also if you aren't looking to go to the National Park, it's mostly scenery stuff & limited. We do day trips from our summer house but honestly it's good for s day. I have 4,5 year olds

I went to Ogunquit Maine with my then 6 year old and its about a 4 hour drive from NY. It's beautiful and very family friendly. I would highly recommend it. There's the Marginal Walkway which is breathtakingly beautiful. We stayed here: http://www.parsonsposthouse.com/
Convenient location and within walking distance to lots of restaurants, shops, etc.

Thank you, it looks like we'll be going to Ogunquit. Looks really cute. Bar Harbor looked great but too far of a drive for what we want. I was looking into Portland last night but I like that this town is even closer. We could even do a day trip to Portland.
