What to do in Nassau, Bahamas?
My DH and I will be in Nassau, Bahamas for a day while on a cruise. What is there to do if we don't book an excursion?

What to do in Nassau, Bahamas?
Honestly not much. We will be there in a few weeks to on a cruise. We will probably get off the boat for an hour or two and walk around town and then head back to the boat.
The only great thing there is the Atlantis, and it is a fortune to get in.

Thanks for the response. I've been there twice before and that's what I remembered but it's been a long time.

None of the excursions sound too exciting to me, so IMO I wouldn't spend the money. We are just going to eat lunch on the ship and head to the pool when it isn't crazy crowded.

I'd take a cab to Atlantis and have a meal. Just don't buy tix to get into the waterpark.
I would skip the straw market.
If we docked at Nassau, I would want to check out the new megaresort, Bahamar. I know it was supposed to be completed any day now.
The town is ok to stroll.

Me & DH did a cool excursion through the cruiseline. I don't remember it being crazy  and it was 1/2 an open air tour of nassau and 1/2 an underwater tour where we took this submarine looking thing (reminded me of magic school bus lol) and toured the underwater reefs and stuff. It was fun!

If you are going to end up doing something try to find a zip line tour -- we have done that and it was SO MUCH FUN.
Or, see if you can swim with the dolphins.
That, for me, was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience.

When we were there on a cruise, we purchased a day pass to the Melia Resort. (Formally the Sheraton). It was an all inclusive pass which included food/beverages, water sports, beach access & full use of all the amenities in the resort including the pool, saunas.. etc. So worth it. An alternative would be to go to the Atlantis, but it can get super expensive and very crowded.

Stay on the boat! We did and couldn't have been happier. The pool was empty as were the water slides.

I found Atlantis to be a waste of money. Next time we're on a cruise that stops at Nassau, we plan on just staying on the ship to take full advantage of it being mostly empty.
