The switch to milk
When? How? Any/all info welcome! DS 1 yr doc apt is a bit after his 1st birthday and I'd prefer not to delay in making the switch from formula so trying to figure it out w/out docs input. TIA!

Re: The switch to milk
We did it at one year, after we got the clearance that dd outgrew her milk protein allergy. We used whole milk (I usually bought organic). We slowly weaned her (5oz formula to 1oz milk, the 4 to 2 after a few days, and so on). Unfortunately, dd hated milk and never took to it! Doctors said cheese and yogurt meet her needs just fine.

Re: The switch to milk
DD will be 1 on Friday
On Monday, we started adding milk to her formula. She drinks 6oz bottles so we did 1oz milk, 5oz formula. Tuesday- 2oz milk, 4oz formula. Today- 3oz milk, 3oz formula. Tomorrow- 4oz milk, 2oz formula. Friday- 5oz milk, 1oz formula. Saturday - all milk.
So far she's doing ok on it. She's a bit gassy and a little constipated but I've heard that's normal. She eats cheese with no problem. She may just be getting used to it.

The switch to milk
At a year Ish. Remember nothing magically happens at a year and you can do it gradually or cold turkey. Depends on the kid.
I'd only proceed with caution if there was a milk allergy.

Re: The switch to milk
DS transitioned from formula to milk gradually over a week with no issue as far as taste goes... he drank it right down! Only thing was his poop changed and he was having a lot of loose BM's and he had a wicked case of diaper rash. I was convinced at the time it was from the milk but now I'm it could've been anything.

Re: The switch to milk
We started at 11ish months by replace 1-2 ounces of milk in DS's formula. He probably would have been fine if we went cold turkey but I wanted to use the formula up that we already had.

The switch to milk
We just did this. Started about 2 weeks ago when he was 11 1/2 months. Started with 6oz formula to 2 oz milk. Did that for a few days. Then went to half formula and half milk for a few days. Now we are at 6oz milk and 2oz formula and in a few days it will be all milk. We went really slow because ds had bad reflux and gas issues so we were cautious

Re: The switch to milk
I did it slowly around 11.5 months
If she was taking a 6 oz bottle of formula, I started for a week doing 5 oz formula, 1 oz milk, Then the next week 4 oz formula and 2 oz milk And so on until it was all milk
It seemed to work very well. At first she was a tiny bit constipated but that passed

Re: The switch to milk
I went cold turkey with both of my kids. I finished the last can of formula and then went right over to milk with no problem. My DD was 1 when we made the switch and my DS was 10 months. He never really "liked" formula (or bottles for that matter) so he took himself off of bottles at 10 months and at the same time we switched to milk.
