Ideas for a 4 day trip to Lake George
We are planning a long weekend trip to Lake George this summer. Neither DH or I have ever been there. We two kids, a 5 and 6 year old. Any suggestions on hotels, attractions, etc.? Based on previous posts DH and I are looking into Surfside on the Lake, particularly their all inclusive packages. Any feedback is appreciated! TIA!

Magic Forest is fun, it's really old but my daughter and nephew loved it- they are now 8 and 7 and this will probably be the year we skip it as most of the rides are better for smaller kids. It's also never crowded and very shady.
We also like Water Slide World, there are several things for little kids. IMO it has to be really hot though, otherwise it's too cold.
The Minne Ha Ha is a fun ship, it's a big steamboat and the rides are about an hour.
I have never stayed at Surfside but I know it has a beach so you should be all set. We stay at the Flamingo which has a terrific beach and we generally prefer to be on the lake as much as possible and don't do too much in town other than the above.
For food we like the Adirondack Brewing Co, Mama Risos and George Henry's which is up in Warrensburg but worth the trip. IMO most of the food in LG is pretty mediocre though I know people who love the Boathouse, but I don't think it's really kid-friendly.

Magic Forest is Ok but pretty old. I took DS to Great Escape when he was 4 and there was plenty for him to do even at that age. Personally, I'd skip Magic Forest and take them to Great Escape.
You can also rent a pontoon boat at Chick's Marina and do that for a day. So much fun, especially if you get a day pass to an island and picnic/grill.
There's mini golf, water slide world, Minne Ha Ha, Shepards Park has a nice playground down by the beach. There's the rodeo nearby and the last few summers they've also had Ringling Brothers Circus in town certain weeks during the summer. There's fireworks every Thursday night on the lake.
If your kids are into history or museums at all, Fort William Henry has a museum that my 5 yo DS loved. They do a whole reenactment and the kids dress up in revolutionary war era vests and get a fake rifle and "march" with the brigade. Then they take them to the top of the fort and fire off the cannon. They send them each home with a certificate and a wooden coin as their pay for being a soldier. Its really super cute.
For food I highly recommend the Moose Tooth Grille in town. Its geared towards the kids and has great food! Its like a mini rainforest when you walk in and just a overall really fun experience. My DS LOVED it. Adirondack brew pub is also really good, Mario's for Italian food, Pizza Jerks for pizza, Barnsider for BBQ, Suttons or Lone Bull for breakfast, and the Boathouse.
Surfside is nice. There's also the Georgian which I prefer to Surfside. Both are right on the water with beach areas, so you really cant go wrong.

we stayed at surfside with friends prior to having kids. Great location because you can walk to alot. However with kids we prefer to stay in Bolton Landing, a little quieter yet close to enough. We stayed at Melody Manor last year and will probably do the same this year.
We did a day at Six Flags and had alot of fun. Its kinda like adventureland with a water park. Perfect for the kids.
OUr fave meal was Adriondack Brewery. Food was good, live music and the kids had a great dessert, make ynour own smores at the table.
One of the reasons we had fun at Melody Manor was they had paddle boats kyaks, canoes etc so we all had fun just going around the lake! Kids spent alot of time enjoying hte lake and relaxing and we really enjoyed the quality time vacation!

last summer we stayed at the lodges at cresthaven - beautiful log cabins. my boys keep asking to go back. We rented a boat for the day at Chick's which was a lot of fun, went into town and hung out - there is a drive in, which was also fun. There is the amusement park, etc.
Last weekend we were up there at the Sagamore which is probably 100x better in the summer ..........

This is all great info! Thank you so much! We are definitely planning to do Six Flags but that was the only thing on our list. Now we have a bunch more to add.
