Big Sister gift after newborn
DD will be 2 when DS is born. Did you get a present for your first born from your newborn? What are some ideas?

My dd was 2.5 when ds was born. She was into frogs at the time, my dh saw a frog stuffed animal in the gift shop and thought she would love it if we told her it was from ds. Once she saw the baby, that is all she was focused on. She didn't even look at the toy. f She was so curious about him and wanted to hang out on the bed with me and the baby. She did like a big sister book my friend got her, but she got that before the baby was born.

We got dd "puppy surprise". My dd loves babies and dogs, and I thought it would be perfect that mommy had a baby and her puppy had babies!

Big Sister gift after newborn
We are giving her a Barbie doll. She love playing with those at the babysitter and doesn't have any of her own.

DD was 18 months when I had DS. We gave her something on our way out the door to the hospital (an Abby Cadabby doll). She was fascinated by DS when we came home. I'm glad we didn't give her anything when we brought him home. I think it would have interfered with her interest. We did get her some stuff for her favorite doll about a week after DS was born. She was so interested in playing mommy, so it was a perfect gift.

My DD will be 23 months when DS comes so I'm trying to figure out besides the Big Sister Tshirt and book what else she may like?! Maybe a doll?!

DD1 was 23 months when DD2 was born - a few weeks before I took her to the American Girl store and got her a bitty baby doll. She was a little young for it, but both DDs love it now and play with it all the time.
When DC3 comes I will probably not buy my DDs anything, but if I do it will likely be something that will keep them busy for a while, lol. IMO, if you think they might have a hard time accepting the baby, a gift might help them get over that. I think my DDs will be so excited to have a baby that they will want to help/play with the baby and not a new toy!

I'm going to get them a baby doll changing table with sounds. Dd loved it when we visited their pre school.

Big Sister gift after newborn
I got my 2.5 year old the m&d sort and snap game from her sister. She loves it, loves that her sister gave it to her, and I love that it cam keep her busy for a while if I'm busy. I gave it to her at home when she was having a rough moment and it really helped right then when she needed to feel special. I don't think you necessarily need to give a gift at the hospital or when they first meet.

I got my daughter an American girl doll. We went three weeks after my son was born and it was just us. We enjoyed the time together.

We got my DS a kids digital camera from his little sister, he loved it. He was taking pics of everything and actually got some really good ones too! You can upload the pics to your computer, not the best quality, but still good. He still plays with it and the pics/video HE took that day are priceless!
