big sister gift?

Did you get DC #1 a gift from either you or the baby when DC #2 arrived? I'm afraid of jealousy issues. DD #1 is almost 3. Should I get something for her from the baby or from us? What did you get your older DC if you did do a gift?

Yup, I did! I wrapped it and left it when I went to the hospital and had my mom read him the card that it was from his sibling(s)..

We did. We got her some coloring books and finger paints and gave them to her when we brought DD2 home.

I got DS a gift from DD and he "got" DD a gift from him that he picked out at BRU. For his big gift, he got the handy manny repair truck. He got it the day we came home from the hospital. I got him some small things for when he came to the hospital to visit us too. DS picked out the Lamaze Firefly as his gift to DD.

I am planning on buying something from the baby to give to DS the first time he comes to meet his new sibling in the hospital.

I am not really worried about jealousy but I thought it would be a nice gesture. I also plan on having DH take DS to the store to buy something for his new sibling so he has something to give to the baby.

I think its just hard for a 3yo to understand (DS will be 3y4m) why the new baby is getting all the presents and he isnt. So I want him to feel special as the big brother too!!!

ETA: I am just going to pick up a new thomas the train toy or game. something that he can open at the hospital and play with if he asks to.
