The values in this country are appalling. You have doctors, firefighters, cops, first responders, nurses- all saving lives. You have researchers curing deadly diseases
And none of them get paid like this.
Yet, vapid wh0res get paid 100s of millions to walk around with their fat asses stuffed into too tight clothes, taking selfies and spreading their legs.
Yeah ok
No wonder so many other countries look down on us.
I can't like this enough.
I guess it really bothers me bc we in the mental health field haven't had a pay raise from most insurance companies since the 80's, some have even recently reduced our pay. We are trying to help people with crippling depression, suicidality, debilitating anxiety, ptsd.... And these MORONS make 100 million for being vapid, self involved a-holes? Something is very very wrong with our society's values. I understand why people in other countries despise Americans.

If you make a lot of money for other people you will make a lot of money yourself.
TV stars and sports figures are making tons of money for people, so they are getting their due.
Its silly to compare this to firefighters/social workers/etc.

I don't think it's silly at all.
So you don't think it is messed up that the almighty dollar is more valued in our culture than people's health, happiness, and intelligence?

Its the nature of our capitalist society. I may not agree with it, but its not like this is something new. I just don't think its fair to say that firefighters and social workers should be paid as much as people who are making millions and millions of dollars for other people.
Its silly to make a comparison IMO, because where will you get the money to pay civil servants what you deem their value to be?
Its not possible the way our economy is set up.

Hmmm, I have another idea. How about these celebrities get paid less, and the average hardworking man/woman gets a little bit more for his/her real and valuable contribution to our community? Our values need to change before that's going to happen.

But where will the money come from?
If a football player is making money for his team, the team will pay him. So is the football team supposed to pay the player less and then give that money to a nurse?

They're not going away anytime soon
Personal feelings aside, agree or disagree, this is our society. People talking about these celebrities, watching their shows, and buying magazines with their pictures in the cover will continue to keep them well paid and in the public eye. If you really feel so strongly about it, you have to boycott it all. Don't wTch them. Don't read about them. Don't talk about them. I would love to say they should use the money to pay our service people more. My husband is a Marine and the pay is crap! But that's not going to happen. the values of this country are in the shitter but I don't see that changing either.

Re: They're not going away anytime soon
My infant son got paid $500 to get his picture taken for a Similac ad. It was a half hour of work.
It's just the way things are. His "work" was not worth more than a social worker. He got paid $1000 per hour. That's insane. He was 5 months old. But it's just the way it is.

Agree 100%. There's a reason why they can command to much--because they generate much, much more.
I don't agree with the paradigm, but that's what it is.
