DD calls my husband by his name - any advice
My DD who just turned 2 calls my husband is name instead of "daddy" at first it was funny and we would always correct her and she said daddy. Now I think she is doing it on purpose because when we correct her she still says his name. If we get her to say daddy we make a big deal how good that is I just don't know what else to do. When she talks about him she refers to him as daddy but when she is talking to him she says his name. Any advice is appreciated

We didn't bring attention to it at all. It was as if she had spoken but NO ONE heard her. He's not Jim he's daddy. Its just that simple. She got over it on her own. Now at 6 she knows our names but they are our "real" names but we are Mama and Daddy
I figured it was good at younger ages that she knew our real names if she got lost or something. So I just didn't correct her that much. Jim wouldn't look over and if she giggled or smiled I just acted like it was dumb or not funny. No reaction, no joy, no fun, she stopped.
ETA: plus I had to stop calling him Jim & Hon. THAT helped! LOL But that's why he's Daddy not Dad because Dad is *MY* Dad.

I'm sure she didn't mean anything by it.
I call DH "Daddy" when I refer to him. The same with grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. To me, it helps reduce the confusion.

I agree, have your DH not answer to her when she says his name.

DD calls my husband by his name - any advice
My dd is also two and calls me and dh by our first names sometimes too. I think its bc she hears us call each other by our names, so she just thinks we each have more than one name. I think she also thinks our first names are kind of a synonym for Mom and Dad, not that she knows what a synonym is, of course. But I've noticed that she calls other moms she sees on TV by my first name. So I think she think my first name is just another word for mom, mama, mommy, etc. Its kind of embarrassing when she calls us by our first names in public, but its kind of cute too sometimes. I'm thinking she'll outgrow it once she gets a little older.

Re: DD calls my husband by his name - any advice
I'd ignore it. Don't call any attention to it at all - by now she knows she's supposed to call him Daddy -
My boys have known our first names for a long time (they are 3 & 5 now) but call us Mommy/Daddy (or if they're yelling from the other room is Mommy, Mom, Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa)
I personally think it's weird when a wife refers to her husband as "Daddy' - if I'm talking about my husband TO the boys I'll refer to him as Daddy - but I don't CALL him Daddy myself. They are wll aware of the difference.

I agree. My girls hear me call DH by his name up the stairs to come down in the morning so they do it too. They were doing it to him when he was out in the backyard today. It was hysterical.

It's definitely a phase. At 2, DD seriously called us "Mommy First Name" and "Daddy First Name." She still had the mommy and daddy in there so we just thought it was hysterical, but she stopped doing it after a while.

I'd ignore it. DD does the same, and even calls me Miss 'my first name', like im a teacher at school.

my DS calls me by my first name sometimes. I ignore him now until he calls me Mommy. We discussed Ad nauseam how my name to him was mommy. After a while he gave up and went back to Mommy.

DD calls my husband by his name - any advice
My D's is 2, and he sometimes calls me and dh, honey and Fernando, cause that is what he hears us saying. All we do is keep saying, no mommy and daddy.

Yep, we had this too & calling each other mama & papa is the fix. Especially when we are with the kids and calling the other person.
We have mixed in our names now, but the kids are older.

Yep - same for us. It lasted a month, maybe 2 and then he went back to saying Daddy. It's just a phase and nothing to be worried by. We'd always correct and say "It's Daddy, not David" and move on.
