Please talk to me about video game consoles. What to buy a 7 yo? Genesis? lol
I am SO out of the loop.
I see wii, wii U, Xbox one, PS4
He wants stuff like Disney, Mario, Minecraft, Skylanders
I have no clue what to buy.

We have a Wii U, and my son plays the above mentioned games on it.

Definitely Wii. Mario games are only for Nintendo consoles, so if that's a priority, go with the Wii. It's much more kid friendly.

The Wii U is the newest version of the Wii. It also plays all of the Wii U games, as well as all Wii games. It also has a handheld console/controller, so they can play some games on the controller without using the TV. I would lean towards the Wii U (I have a Wii and a Wii U, as well as a PS2, PS4, and an old Sega Saturn).
