netflix via video game consoles?
if i were to sign up for netflix, right now, would we be able to view stuff through the xbox 360 and ps3 right away, even if we aren't paying for the "live" aspect, right now?

Re: netflix via video game consoles?
You would need to have Netflix send you a disc in the mail. It will say on the disc do NOT return. You need this disc every time you want to use the video game console. We have Wii, so we'd put the disc in the Wii, go to settings to make sure the online connection is set up and then it would work.

This is not true anymore, they changed it a few months ago. There is a Netflix application you can download from the wii store so you don't need the disk.

Well, they say you learn something new everyday! I guess my post is invalid then. Thank you for clarifying.

You will see it right away. I hate it! All the movies I want they don't offer on it through the Wii.
I got the free trial then never continued with it.

Re: netflix via video game consoles?
I love Netflix instant. They have LOTS of stuff available instantly and it's always changing.
True, they usually don't have the NEWEST releases... so I guess it depends on your taste.
But there's stuff on there that's pretty new.

I am obsessed! All of the tv shows that are available are incredible. However, the instant movies aren't as great.
If you have kids, there are a TON of kids shows and movies.

Re: netflix via video game consoles?
Didn't read the above but
XBOX Requires XBOX LIVE GOLD which is a year subsripiction which will set you back 40-60 bucks depending how you play it.
Wii, PS3 don't require and subsriptions along with Blu-Ray Players.
If you needed something new, a Blu-Ray player with Netflix may be the cheapiest bet if money is an issue.
ROKU and Boxee may be some good options as well

Re: netflix via video game consoles?
You still have to manage everything through your computer though. Just keep adding to your queue and it will show up on the PS3.

That is exactly what we did and we LOVE it! So much better than waiting for discs in the mail!

Not every movie esp. blurays are streaming so those we leave in the queue. I love it...we use it all the time.

The Wii can search everything they have. We have streaming Netflix on the Wii and our Blu-ray player. The Blu-ray only displays what's in our queue.
For us, it's great, since there are so many kids shows, and I'm able to introduce DC to "real" cartoons. Roadrunner, the original Scooby Doo, Pink Panther, etc...
