My children fight all day every day
DS is 6 and DD is 3 (going on 13). I've been so sad lately because my son and daughter fight CONSTANTLY! If we are ever home all day (like on a rainy day or something) I am absolutely miserable because they fight about everything and anything. She takes his things, they hit, etc. I do all I can to help them to understand that they are family and need to be good to each other but so far it is falling on deaf ears. DS keeps asking to go on vacation and I honestly feel like I can't take them anywhere because I can't be trapped in a car with them for hours. I realize how awful this sounds. We have a very small family with no other kids so they are all they have and I am desperate to help them get along! Anyone BTDT or have advice? it's really eating away at me.

Re: My children fight all day every day
I am right there with you. I have twins and they are either eachothers bff or worst enemy. They can be playing nice and I walk out of the room and they start fighting, screaming etc. They are almost 4. Add in my 19 month old who pretty much destroys everything they try to do/play with and it is just insanity sometimes.
I made a chart similar to the one below and it has helped alot. Instead of yelling at them I just tell them they are moving to the bottom if they can't play nice. My chart at the top has dessert (a cookie, animal crackers etc) and the bottom No tv...they get to watch a show after dinner.

also if they continue to fight over a toy. I just take it away!

I can totally relate about being miserable when your home all day with them. I dread the weekends for that reason. My dd is 6 and doesn't understand that ds who is only 10m is just a baby and don't know what he's doing when he bothers her or destroys what she's doing. I'm so in for it when they get older lol

Oh great ... I am not alone! I thought I was the only one to feel miserable when kids are home. Mine are 5 and 2.5 .....bickering ..... hitting... I just want to cry sometimes.

My boys constantly fight as well.
They do seem to to better though when they are outside of the house. I spend as little time in the house as possible to cut down on the fighting (which is going to be more challenging as it gets colder...)
As much as they fight though - they are the first to stick up for each other!

That chart is what my daughter's kinder class had and a similar one in 1st grade now.
Sorry I only have one kid so no advice but I remember fighting with my brother a lot when I was little, we did sort of grow out of it.
Good luck!

Re: My children fight all day every day
My boys are almost 4 years apart - 5 and 1 so no fighting (yet) but this sounds like my brother and I growing up. He is 2 years older and we fought CONSTANTLY!!! I hated it but I can't imagine how hard and frustrating it must have been for my parents (well - my mom especially since she was with us much more.)
I know this doesn't help you right now, but just know there is hope. There were so many times I about hated my brother and was sure we would be enemies forever - but I love him now and though we live far from each other, we are close and usually talk about once a week or so.
Good luck - I hope you find something to help. I wish my brother and I had found a better way to get along growing up - but the one other thing I will say is although he was awful to me and I was sure he wished I didn't exist, I knew that he could tease me, beat me up, whatever - but if anyone else tried something, he'd have had my back in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the responses and advice everyone. I do hope that they eventually learn how to get along or at least coexist LOL! I know they love each other so it's super frustrating. I have hope

My children fight all day every day
my twins will be 4 in 3 weeks and my youngest is 2. All they do is fight. Roll around on the floor, pulling hair, kicking and hotting type of fighting. No matter what I do nothing seems to work right now. I separate and put all three in different corners, different rooms even. Then we talk about it after they've calmed down and when they get back together its the same thing. The boys are typical boys and are very rough and DD is very sassy and bossy. It's so frustrating and there are days where I have to give myself a time out and lock myself in my room for a few minutes to keep from losing my cool on them. It's so hard but I just keep telling myself it's a phase. Hopefully a very short lived phase but judging by the other responses with kids' ages, i have a feeling there are quite a few years of this left :/
