Anyone else read Gone Gril?

I just finished it last night and couldn't believe the ending!!! I was so confused by what it meant. I'm really curious how others interpreted the ending.

I really loved the premise and the twists and turns of the book though. I need suggestions on what to read next that might be similar. I looked up the author's other books but the premises don't really interest me.

Anyone else read Gone Gril?

I just finished this book also and I absolutely loved it. I haven't been able to choose a new book to read, bc I feel like I'll be disappointed!

I'd love to discuss it!

Ugh, not a fan of that ending. I felt like she... won. And I hated that.

I did read Gillian Flynn's Dark Places and really enjoyed it, though it is very different from Gone Girl.

I always recommend Defending Jacob to anyone who enjoyed Gone Girl. It's not quite as... sinister, but they always remind me of each other.

SPOILER ALERT for anyone who hasn't read it:

I felt like that too. However, the very last page really confused me. The way she said " I wish he hadn't said that. I cant stop thinking about it." and then concluded with "I have nothing more to add, I just needed to have the last word"...it made me think she was either going to kill herself (and their unborn baby), or she was again tired of being "cool Amy" again and was done with it, or she was going to kill him?? So many possibilities...I really wish the author had tied it up a little nicer.

And I wanted to SMACK nick. Like, who decides to stay with their psychotic murdering wife who framed him for murder just because she's pregnant with his kid now?? It makes him almost as crazy as she is.

I couldn't agree more about Nick- I was rooting for him. I mean the first half of the book there's obviously doubt, but once you realized her depth of crazy.... I don't know. It made him weak and I was just done with the both of them at that point.

It's been quite some time since I've read the book, but I do remember that last line and I took it like she was tired of being "cool Amy" again and it was only a matter of time before she pulled some craziness again. I didn't think she'd necessarily kill anyone- herself, Nick, or the baby (she's too selfish to kill herself, Nick is too much fun to toy with, and the baby is too much leverage), but that she wouldn't hesitate to make his life a living hell again. Ugh, thinking about it pisses me off all over again! Chat Icon Though, let's face it, I'll still watch the movie when it comes out on Netflix.

Re: Anyone else read Gone Gril?

I just finished it & I too hated the ending! The author had such a great story going & decided on a totally unsatisfying ending like that?! Ugh it definitely ruined the book for me... as others said I hate how Amy got her way in the end. I had wanted to see the movie but now I'm not sure.

I didnt like the ending of Gone Girl either! I started the next book in Gillian Flynn's "trilogy" and it's okay so far.. not really grabbing my attention a lot yet though.

I'm not done yet, but if you liked Gone Girl, you will like The Girl On The Train. I can't put it down.

Re: Anyone else read Gone Gril?

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to add. I read the book some time ago and didn't care for it. Didn't hate it and didn't love it. When I heard they were making a movie, I was shocked. I watched the movie last weekend and actually liked it much better than the book. The scene with Doogie Howser was so disturbing.

Anyone else read Gone Gril?

Dark Places was a thousand times better than Gone Girl - definitely my favorite of the three from that author.
