Newbie: Pls Help Me Understand
I am a few months away from beginning to TTC (yay!!) and have been trying to do all my research. Here's what I'm stuck on - I understand why we DTD every other day around ovulation instead of every day, but why not just DTD every other day throughout the month in case you get your cycle dates off a little? Wouldn't that increase your chances?
Sorry for the dumb question. I've mostly been a lurker lately.

it's totally up to you.... they used to say every other day to "rebuild" sperm count... but the new research shows that doesn't really matter. Go into the first thread on this section, and read about Deana's plan.... it's really helpful. The idea is to DTD every other day during your most fertile time, NOT during your not fertile time.

I agree with this.
It only takes one sperm and everything to line up perfectly!

I agree that it's a lot of work but the 2 months we got pregnant we did it every other day from the time my period end to the week after ovulation. We were exhausted but HEY, it worked.

Re: Newbie: Pls Help Me Understand
If you're tracking ovulation and you know you already ovulated then most likely nothing will happen...if you aren't tracking ovulation then to cover your bases...sure.
My DH did some reading on it while we were TTC and found that if you DTD every other day during your fertile time there was more sperm, but they weaker. If you DTD everyday there was less sperm but they were stronger. One month we DTD every other day...BFN The next month we DTD everyday (even the day after my OPK said I ovulated) and got a BFP.
I will put a disclaimer that I was on clomid but that was only to shorten my cycles to normal.

I would recommend Deanna's plan.. if you google it, it should come up.
