Handling tantrums

How do you handle an awful tantrum?

DD will be 2 in December. For some odd reason today she threw such a tantrum when I tried putting her to sleep. Beyond the normal tantrum she cried so hard she was choking and throwing up Chat Icon (all over her sheets etc) I let her lay down in my bed and she is sleeping and is fine now but I don't want to reward bad behavior by giving her the results she wants. Normally she goes right to sleep and is a pleasure but this was awful. I felt bad for her Chat Icon

Re: Handling tantrums

It may be that's she's just off (teething, getting sick...). I always worry that one time of "giving in" will start a bad routine, but dd tends to just be back to normal the next day.

I had the same thing a few weeks ago. Dd is usually great about going to bed, but she refused, and cried til she threw up in her crib. I ended up taking her out, settling her down, and then having her redo her entire night routine (minus the vitamins!) - changed pjs, brushed teeth, let her watch a few minutes of tv, read to her, let her lay down on the couch, then put her back into bed. It luckily worked!
