Coconut oil as a moisturizer for kids?
Looking to go a little more natural on moisturizers for my kids and coconut oil keeps coming up. I know it's trendy but I don't know anything about it. Is it greasy? Does it absorb quickly? Will my kids smell like pina coladas? :)

I used it.. its alright. absorbs as quickly as you'd expect a lotion would. Not overly greasy afterwards. Not super, not horrible.

I didn't find it worked that great as far as DD's eczema was concerned. It's a little greasy which I hate. I think if you get one that's well purified it shouldn't have any odor.
We started adding some essential oils straight into the bath (tea tree and not sure what else- DH mixes it) and it works great. Not greasy at all and she doesn't need any moisturizer and has no more eczema.

I've put coconut oil on myself and hated it ... it was SUPER greasy at first but after a few minutes, most of it was absorbed and it was ok. Thing is that I didn't really feel like it helped much.
And yes, it does smell like coconut but it's a pretty faint smell ... it's actually a pretty awesome smell, IMO.

No first hand experience but I've heard you can put it right into the bath and let it mix in with the water. That way it's being absorbed into their skin without having to rub it on them.

I hate it. It's greasy as all heck. Like pouring olive oil on yourself or child. But unlike olive oil, it's solid at room temp so it's like scooping Crisco. It flakes everywhere when I scoop it out and makes a mess.
Also, I didn't find it any more moisturizing long term then regular lotion. For all that grease you'd expect more.
I reserve it for use in making popcorn. Now THAT it is good for! Yummmmm!

We use it for DD. She has bad eczema, especially during the winter, and it is the only thing that works consistently well. Yes, it's greasy, especially if you use too much, but the huge $10 tub from BJs lasts forever and I love the smell. If I apply too much I just rub off the excess with a towel.

I use it for dry patches on dd. However I lovvvve lubing up my whole body after a shower and then throwing on sweats. I use earth mama angel baby lotion on dd. It's all natural.

I like it, but I actually think auria cacia brand grape seed oil is even better. Much lighter weight.

I put some right in DDs warm bath and she comes out feeling super soft. She has sensitive skin and it works well. I also use coconut oil for a ton of stuff! I put it in my hair, on my & DDs lips, in my coffee, chicken broth. Yum!
