Re: Age to start kiddie parties

I think it depends if you have a lot of kids to invite

So far my kids ( twin girls) have had family /close friend party where there are usually about 7 kids altogether at the house. Very child centered, activities, theme, entertainment all geared for the kids

Now they will be turning 5 and are making their own friends at school we plan on having a kidde party for them Still our close friends' kids, and choose maybe two kids from their class (they are in separate classes at school) I can't invite both classes or even all the girls it would be way too much

Eta. I forgot to answer your question, I would wait, I was going to have a kiddie party last year their bday is May so I figured let's see if they get invited to any parties and we got no invites so I didn't bother

Re: Age to start kiddie parties

My ds is turning 3. We are doing a very small party at home with about 4-5 kids. His preschool class is mixed half day and full day, and since I am doing it on a weekday afternoon, I am not having the class- just sticking to playmates he has had and dc of a couple friends. I did this with my older kids as well and it has been good. I saved the big parties for when they are a little older and are closer with their classmates.

DD had her first at age 4, DS had his first at age 6 (just the way it worked because we are OOS and would go home to visit family). I didn't want to do it until they were in school and had a good amount of friends their age.

Re: Age to start kiddie parties

Thanks everyone - this was so helpful. We are also closing on a house and moving in the next month, so it's a relief to hear I likely won't stand out if I don't do a 2nd birthday party with the daycare friends. Money and time are a little more than tight right now!

Starting this year , DD will be 4. She's old enough now that she asked for one.

kindergarten!

We have a pretty big family party every year, including our closest friends. So we waited till kindergarten for a "friend" party.
