Double Stroller???

I am due with my second child in Feb and my DD will 3 years old. Do I need a double stroller? If so, what do you recommend? I would prefer one behind the other. I was also thinking about the sit and stand. I just don't want to waste money and buy the wrong stroller. Right now I have the City Mini and love it. TIA

Re: Double Stroller???

Hello!

When my 2nd DS was Born my older DS was 3.5. I contemplated getting a double stroller too, and if I were to get one I would have gotten the sit and stand. However it really depends on your lifestyle...
Does your DD walk alot? Do you go to the mall often? Do you do alot of walking?

My older DS walks alot and if we go to the store I usually put him in the cart.

My advice... just wait and see.

This is great advise. Wait & see.

I very rarely ended up using our double stroller and our kids are very close together... maybe 1 winter for mall outings & DD rode in an ergo most the time anyway from 6 mo-1 year. By the time she hit 1 year, DS was 2.5 & was walking everywhere.

DD hasn't been in any stroller in the longest of times... and she's not yet 3. We always go to zoos, botanical gardens, etc without a stroller.

I think it depends on your lifestyle.

My twins are 3.5 and while they don't always use a stroller in the stores we walk to the park, walk the boardwalk in lb, need a stroller for outings like the Bronx zoo etc

Re: Double Stroller???

Thank you! I guess I will wait and see. I was just thinking I might need it if I go walking or a place like the zoo.

Double Stroller???

DD will be 2 years 8 months and only uses the stroller on occasion. It's annoying to think about how much a double will cost knowing I won't use it much but I do think things like the zoo, fairs, traveling, or even certain stores that I'll need it. Part of me wants to get one used but I also think I want to at least go to BBB and try a bunch out to know what I want.

Double Stroller???

Another option would be to add a glider board or Seat to the back of the city mini for quick outings. If you are going somewhere like the zoo, would you be taking them alone? Because if you have someone to help, you could always take the mini for the baby and a cheap umbrella stroller for your older DC. DS was 25 months when my twins arrived and we didn't want to buy a triple

Re: Double Stroller???

Mine are 2 years apart and at 3 & 5 I still sometimes use the double stroller. For me, it wa sa no brainer. - and I am a FTWM so it's not like I'm home with them all day every day to use it .....but I used it A LOT

They will sit, and it makes my life easier in the mall or out running errands if they'l just sit and I don't have to worry about chasing them or someone running or whatever.

My kids are 4.5 yrs apart, they are currently 18 months and 6 yrs old and we've been using the double stroller (sit n stand) since my DS was around 8-9 months old.

It's not a daily use thing but when we have a lot of errands or go somewhere where there is a lot of walking (mall, amusement parks, zoo, etc) it's a BLESSING to have that stroller. My DD will still get tired and need a rest. I think it was 100% worth it to invest in a double and I don't really see her stopping using it anytime soon.

Re: Double Stroller???

My DDs are almost 3 years apart to the day. I didn't get one because DD1 never wanted to go in the stroller before I had the baby, but some days I wish I did. When she is really tired, she will ask to go in her stroller. When DH is with me, we just use both strollers, but when I'm alone, she has to walk and isn't always happy about it. I think I'm going to get a double umbrella now that that DD2 is a little bigger. Even just to take a walk around the neighborhood for exercise (for me)! I also keep my eye out on the buy/sell boards for gently used doubles.
