Has anyone measured behind but did not miscarry?

My best friend went for her first ultrasound today and was told she probably miscarried. She is measuring 6 weeks with no heartbeat but she should be at 10-11 weeks. She did have some bleeding last week but then the blood turned brown so everyone thought it was not a miscarriage.

I don't know what to do to make her feel better. I am so sad for her. I want to tell her to still have hope but I'm not sure if that would be helpful.

Honestly, I don't think that sounds promising. A few days behind is typical, but 4 weeks behind without a heartbeat at 10 weeks just isn't good. I'm sorry for her.

My friend was literally glowing all weekend. In the 20+ years I have known her, I had never seen her so happy. I'm so sad for her and I don't know what to do.

She and her DH told everyone they know already. They couldn't keep the news to themselves.

This is my first close friend who miscarried so I am not sure what to do or say.

I was measuring 1 weeks behind. I scheduled my 1st appt for when I would have been 7 weeks, but baby only measured 6 weeks. We did see a heartbeat though. 4 weeks behind with no heartbeat doesn't sound good. So sorry that your friend is going through this.

I am so sorry for your friend. The same thing happened to me twice. It is unfortunately called a missed-miscarriage, where you do not physically miscarry, the baby just stops developing.
We were in the same situation, we told everyone we were expecting and then had to tell them all the bad news. I did not want to be around anyone for the first few days. It is completely devastating, just let your friend know that you are there for her when she is ready to talk.

Unfortunately, it is not promising, unless she has her dates wrong. If not, it is concerning that she has no bleeding and she could have an ectopic pregnancy. I had one and lost my fallopian tube due to it. Make sure she is following up with her Dr

I texted her and left her a voicemail. I will give her some space and let her mourn. I am not sure what else I can do for her.

She told everyone because she was sooooooo excited. I was so excited with her. =(

She has another appointment next week.

DH is a doctor and he thinks she is probably going to need the D&C procedure.

I agree, sadly it doesnt sound promising and im very sorry for your friend. And you, because i know youre disappointed too.

When I recently miscarried I had told my close friend when I first found out I was pregnant, and a few people at my office knew since I left work early one of the days it was happening and was all upset... My friend sent me a little gift package of cookies and a note that she thought I could use cheering up, and a friend at work left me a card on my chair... For me I really appreciated it because it let me know they realized I was suffering a real loss (unlike the person who said "are you sure you were pregnant in the first place?) but it didn't mean I had to have a conversation about it with them if I didn't want to. Just be there for her and check in to see how she's doing, it took me like 2 months to really not be so emotionally fragile after it happened so let her know you're still thinking of her after a few weeks.

I think they did see something though - sounds like it looked like a pregnancy at 6 weeks at the 10 week sono? I think it probably isn't ectopic because it sounds like it implanted in the right place but just didn't grow Chat Icon

ETA sorry DRmom that you had to go through that, too

I've measured a few days to a week behind and things were fine but what you're describing definitely doesn't sound promising at all. I'm sorry for your friend. Chat Icon
