Would you be annoyed if DH scheduled a work dinner on back to school night?
I got a sitter for DS's back to school night so that DH and I could both attend. DH schedules a work dinner on the same night. He thinks it is fine for me to go alone.
Would you be upset if DH scheduled a work dinner on back to school night?
It is too late now but he did have flexibility to choose a different night. I'm so upset that DH doesn't think going to DS's kindergarten back to school night is important.

Wouldn't bother me unless he did it on purpose to get out of it lol. If it was just an oversight that wouldn't bother me...

Re: Would you be annoyed if DH scheduled a work dinner on back to school night?
If my husband knew about the back to school night and knew I expected him to go with me....then I would be upset. But if we hadn't discussed going together, he probably wouldn't have thought that scheduling something else for that night would be a big deal.

I'm with you on this one - Yes, I'd be annoyed. Especially if HE scheduled and chose the date -

Yes, I totally would. You got a sitter for the two of you to go to the back to school night. DH doesn't get to be as involved in the boy's schools as much as I can, but when it's something at night involving or having to do with the kids or weekends it's important he's there too.

Yes, I would.
If he KNEW we had to be at the school and he scheduled something else I would expect him to change his plans.
It's important that he is with me for things like this. He should play an active role in our children's education too.

No, usually only one of us goes and reports back while the other stays behind with the kids.

If he knew about it and did it anyway then yes, If he didn't realize then no, I have to go to my dds tonight and my dh is flying out for business today so I go alone, I really don't think these things are a big deal they don't tell you all that much anyway

It is a dinner with 3 people. The senior guy threw out 2 dates he was available. DH already had another dinner on one date so he accepted the 2nd date (same night as back to school night.) Our calendars are synced so I know he saw it on his calendar.
I am annoyed because he should just have declined saying both dates don't work for him.
DH said he would go to the dinner late. He will be at back to school night for 30-45 min.

No, I don't think both parents need to go to back to school night though.

I guess it is too late to change plans now but if it did pop up on his calendar, you're right, he should've said both dates didn't work for him.

Would you be annoyed if DH scheduled a work dinner on back to school night?
annoyed? No Surprised? Yes
Dinner can happen whenever, kinder night thing is just once. But you want to miss it? Go ahead.
He knows already I absolutely LOATHE the idea of a 'woman's job' description for school things or generally things considered 'female' or 'motherly'. He's involved in all of AJ's stuff. He's the dad who hangs out with her at school until they are taken into their classes. He goes to one field trip and me the other.
If he or I can't make something for work that is out of our control, then that's fine. But if you have a choice... remember.. we work for our kid.. she *IS* the most important thing. She trumps everything else.
But we would have brought AJ with us, we don't get a sitter for that event. As a matter of fact, ours is Thursday

Would you be annoyed if DH scheduled a work dinner on back to school night?
No, I wouldn't care. If he were not going because he was going to go have drinks with his friends, then I would be annoyed. But if it is dinner with colleagues I wouldn't think twice.

Re: Would you be annoyed if DH scheduled a work dinner on back to school night?
From the update, it seems like DH didn't have an option if the senior guy only gave 2 dates and he was busy the other day. If he's going for 30-45 minutes, that's fine. I'm a teacher and back to school night is only 30-45 minutes anyway. If you think he did it to get out of it though, then yes, I'd be annoyed.

Same situation here. I'm annoyed, not at DH since He had no control over the dates, but annoyed. Don't want to go alone.

Re: Would you be annoyed if DH scheduled a work dinner on back to school night?
No - I would not be upset. It's work - ish happens! If he had scheduled a guys night then yes, I would be angry. From your update it didn't seem like there was much choice.
ETA: at our back to school nights it's rare for both parents to attend. Either because of child care or parents who work until late or in the city.

Ditto. We both go to parent-teacher conferences, but I'm the one who goes to back to school night.

I would not be annoyed, those nights are usually so boring anyway, and DH has the attention span of a flea, so I never ask him to go.
