Help with OPK and ovulation in general

I am using this month to try and get a better understanding of my cycles. It is the first time I have ever used OPK's and I must admit I am a bit confused, despite reading the directions 14 times.

I have taken them every day at the same time (afternoon).

Friday/Saturday - I wouldn't call it positive but it was very close (trying to decipher the line is another issue altogether).

Sun-today - very negative. Line was barely visible.

However, the past two days I have had the telltale signs of ovulation, or what I think are the telltale signs. Aka lots of pain, headache, nausea. This happens every month around this time so I figure its related to that.

So do you actually ovulate when the test is positive OR do you ovulate a few days after getting a positive OPK? If its the latter than that would make much more sense.

If it helps I looked online and it said my estimated fertile time was Aug30-Sep 4th. This was assuming a 28 day cycle (which may not be 100% correct)

It typically happens 24-48 hours after. But everyone is different. The only way to know for sure when is to temp. I swear by temping lol. We got pg the first month doing it after using opks for about 6 months. I O later than I thought closer to 3 days post smiley.

Also you may want to give the clearblue advance digital opk with the smileys a try. IMO, they were so much easier than deciphering the lines.
