Car seat experts, WWYD/seat for 3 year old

My 3 year old DD is currently in a Britax Marathon 70. We purchased it 2.5 years ago. My DS is quickly outgrowing his chicco keyfit. Should I:

1) put DS into the Britax Marathon & get DD a new seat?
2) Keep DD where she is & get DS a new seat?

DD is forward facing, 30 lbs & 37 inches.
DS will be rear facing until (at least) 2 & currently weighs 17lbs 27.5 inches.

We have a Traverse.

If I should do 1, what seat would you recommend- preferably something that will last her for many years.

I would keep the Marathon for your son & get a new seat for your DD. I would purchase a booster that's capable of 5 point harness. We have the Britax Frontier 90. My youngest has been in it since he's 3 but using the 5 point harness.

I agree but, we got the Graco Argos. It's grown on me (especially now since they replaced the buckles).

Your dd is to small and young for a high back booster. I would look into a frontier or an Argos.

We just got DD a nautilus as an extra seat and we really like it. She's harnessed FF and then it converts to a booster later. There's a $25 mail in rebate on the graco seats right now too.

This is what we did. We got my 3 year old a Britax Frontier 90 and gave my 8 month old her Britax Boulevard. They are now 4 and 1yrs old and it has worked out very well. My DD loved her new big girl booster seat. It was also much easier for her to climb into.

We just did this too. We are giving DS2 the Marathon. And we just bought the Graco Argos for DS1.

I really like the frontier.
We got a bunch of them: easier to take in & out & for our cars & kids well. They will be the last seats we buy.

yup! I would put your youngest in the marathon, and then put your oldest in a Britax Frontier (or something like that- that goes from a 5 point harness to a high back booster that uses the seat belt.) the frontier has a 9 year expiration, so that will get your oldest through until they don't need a seat anymore.
we just got one for DS who is 3.5 and will probably put him in it in the next 6 months or so. he still fits great in his britax boulevard, but I think the frontier will just be easier for him to climb into by himself, since hes getting heavier for me to help him!!

All great suggestions!! I just want to add to check out the Graco Nautilus and Britax Pioneer as well. The Nautilus is essentially the same seat as the Argos it just has a harness that you have to rethread with height to keep the straps coming out from above her shoulders. The Argos you adjust the headrest and it does the straps automatically. Sometimes ypu can find one or the other on sale.
