Yeah, I saw that Chat Icon Chat Icon

God forbid we ask parents to do something that will further their child's education.

I'm sure such parents would happily spend the same time and energy searching for a toy, pair of sneakers, tickets to a concert/sporting eventChat Icon

You don't hear such complaints from parents in many developing countries of the world.

I just have 0 fight left in me and even less tolerance for this nonsense. I pray I make it through this year without really losing it.

I try to shop for toys, sneakers online and no I keep things simple and don't go to lengths to search for such things.

Really you shouldn't jump to conclusions about someone from 1 post. I send used crayons and supplies to a developing country that my family goes to every year.

You say you weren't trying to bash - but your tone seemed to. As teachers we are ALWAYS being forced to explain ourselves, and sometimes - in this case- about silly things.
Yes- it is silly to ask why we want TWO red pens. I don't see why we have to consider the parents in the quantity of an item when we are asking for two pens. Pens are cheap.
The teacher wasn't asking for two flash drives, 5 reams of paper, etc.

Have a great year ladies!

DS is starting kindergarten and I'm excited to finally get more involved with our district.

You're right it wasn't the best tone. Enjoy the rest of the summer teachers!
