I'm normally a poster on the infertility boards but thought I would ask here as well! Anyone go here in W. Islip? Would like to switch my Dr. and looking for recommendations in this practice. Thanks!

Re: SOUTHBAY OB/GYN

Truthfully, I left this office when I was TTC because their wait times are insane. When you're pregnant they have you see all of the OBs so you have met everyone who might be on call the night you deliver.
Dr. Amaratta has a great bedside manner
Dr. Jurak is great and knowledgable
Dr. Lockhart is gentile and nurturing

I ended up switching to Dr. Antonidias in West Islip. He came recommended here on LIF and I was so pleased with him.

Re: SOUTHBAY OB/GYN

I left that office after they made me wait over 3 hours when I was cramping and bleeding in their office. Thankfully the baby was ok... Oh and I did already have an appointment that day, it wasnt like they had to fit me in. Before that instance I had a really rude sono tech.

I left their office. I saw Dr. Lockhart and loved her but the office is terrible. I never waited less than an hour, and it was usually more like 1.5-2 hours. It was also SO hard to get an appt…like I would have to book at least a month in advance.

I go to Stony Brook midwives now (Bohemia office…didn't love the office staff at the E. Setauket office). Love them in Bohemia and never had a problem with the staff. Wait time is not long at all and it's easy to get appointments.

Left their office after I had to argue with a receptionist for an appt when I was pregnant and bleeding. After they gave me my appt I arrived a the office and they argued with me that I had an appt. Save yourself the aggrevation and go to comprehensive obgn.

The good news is that you have so many options in the W. Islip area. There are at least 4 OBGYNs in a one mile radius from South Bay.

On the other hand, my SIL used South Bay and I believe would use them again if/when she has another baby. Her dr. was Ammirata and I know she loved her.

Re: SOUTHBAY OB/GYN

I used Southbay. I was in labor forever so I saw all the docs. Dr. Lockhart sent me to the hospital for induction due to preeclampsia. Dr. Ammaretta did my intake and started my induction. Dr. Jurak was at the hospital for 24 hours with me while I waited. Dr. Lester did my c-section. They really made me feel comfortable and tried to help me avoid a c-section, even though I did wind up needing one. I did feel rushed in the office, but they all made me feel great at the hospital. I usually had a 7:45 am appt, so I didn't usually wait more than 5-10 minutes.

I go back and forth debating if I will stay with them for my next child. They were great at the hospital, but the office was less than stellar.

The early morning appt is what finally made me leave. I was told by my Dr to take the first appt of the day and you will be in and out. Well one day I had the first appt but so did 6 other woman for the same Dr.

They overbook!!!!!

I absolutely loved Dr. Ammiratta, but left when I got pregnant for many of the same reasons listed above.

SOUTHBAY OB/GYN

All their doctors were great, but I ultimately left the practice because as the others said the wait times were insane. I never wait more than 5 min now at stony brook ob/gyn.
