Anyone move recently? How did you ease the transition? a bit of a vent!
The girls are about to be 2... they've always gone through phases of separation anxiety. Thankfully, it has never been at the same time..
We just moved and they are attached at my hip. Noone can entertain, distract them... everything is mommy mommy mommy and the WHINING!! OMG the whining!
Don't get me wrong, I totally understand the strangeness of a new environment and DH and I worked really hard to get them comfortable here (frequent visits, etc) before we moved in. I am exhausted and at capacity with the two of them for 12 hours a day.
It has gotten so bad that from when they wake up to when they go to bed, I cannot even go to the bathroom without a major meltdown. Now it's just easier to bring them in with me-getting no privacy or moments to myself anywhere. I usually get some time to myself at night but they are having trouble getting to sleep at night as well.
Most of the craziness/clinginess comes from the fact that they are overtired... naps aren't as long as they should be for whatever reason so on shorter nap days, we put them to bed a little earlier but they talk for a while (which is adorable) and then it turns into whining/crying until DH has to go in the room and sit there until they fall asleep.
For those that moved, how long until it all calmed down? I am going back to work tomorrow and have no idea how they will be with the sitter. I am working from home and likely won't get anything done.  
FWIW, they are generally good sleepers.. bedtime is about 7:30 and they STTN until about 6:30-7:30.. It's been this way for a while. We sing songs, and they go right to bed.

Ugh we are moving on the 6th, and I'll return to work the 11th. We're moving local, but my son, almost 3, has already expressed that he doesn't want to move

We moved when dd was 14 months old. She fought naps and bedtime too. She was sleeping less when she finally did go down. It only lasted about a week....but it was a loonngggg week!

I might be wrong but maybe you going back to work is a good thing. This way they will learn that other people can soothe them. Other people can entertain them.
I have been having an issue where my dd wont let her father soothe her or put her to bed. She cries hysterically for mommy. Some nights I go to the basement or go out for awhile, kiss her goodnight and leave my dh to do the entire bedtime routine. I cannot be in her site or she will cry for me. Like you I was getting no time to myself at night.

I agree with this. DS is all about mommy. Doesn't want anyone to do anything for him but mommy. Always asks me to do it for him. Well, recently I started telling him to ask Daddy. He tells me he doesn't want to. Then it won't get done. He will actually then go ask Daddy or do it himself. I've had to start getting Daddy more involved because I can not be the one person able to do things for him. He's learned that Daddy can do things for him or he can do it himself.
But this is only when we are all home.
When I am home alone with him, it is all out war.

Yeah I tend to agree that them learning that others can help/entertain them is a good thing. Today I worked from home and it was rough... knocking on/opening doors, etc.
Tomorrow I am out of the house.. I think it will be good for all of us!
