Honey allergy?

Last night I made DD chicken nuggets and made my own honey mustard sauce to go with it since she seems to like dipping her food into sauces lately. She took a few bites and then immediately started coughing and sounded phlegmy. She refused to eat any more, started wimpering and wanted out of her highchair. She had rubbed her face after getting it on her hand and immediately broke out in a red rash/hives. She threw up within a half hour, but seemed fine otherwise. I gave her some crackers after just to make sure since she barely ate anything for dinner and she was totally fine. I put her to bed about an hour later. This morning when I got her up her face was puffy, and her eyes were practically swollen shut. She was acting normal and within an hour of waking looked a lot better. I'm thinking she was allergic to the raw honey. It was the first time I'd given it her like that. Did anyone else's DC wind up being allergic to honey? Is it something they grow out of? I've given her honey teddy grahams and honey nut Cheerios and she's been fine. I think because it wasn't cooked? She's had every other ingredient before without an issue. DD is 14 months.

Re: Honey allergy?

Sounds like a food allergy to me. DS is allergic to strawberries - only fresh, though. He can eat them cooked but the fresh ones cause him to break out in hives.

I hope he'll grow out of it, but you never know. I think around 2 or 3 you can get them tested (or try feeding it again).
