Question about this Hurricane Arthur and cruises
If its bad just tell me...Im starting to worry. My parents took my 15 year old daughter and my nephew on the Norwegian Gem. They went to florida where it rained(that was Monday) and they missed the private island yesterday because of weather and went straight to the location in the Bahamas. They start sailing back to NY tomorrow. This storm is supposed to be bad in Florida and it almost sounds like they will be heading right into it. What do cruise lines do? I have two days of worry ahead of me...they dock Saturday Morning in NY.

Question about this Hurricane Arthur and cruises
The first cruise I ever went on, there was a tropical storm in the area so the boat changed its itinerary and went to completely different stops to make sure we avoided the storm. They will most likely change course to avoid the worst of the weather and I'm sure everyone will be ok.

Question about this Hurricane Arthur and cruises
They will not sail into a storm. They will just revise the itinerary.

Re: Question about this Hurricane Arthur and cruises
They do not sail through a hurricane,n they will race up the coast early or in your case follow behind it. They have delayed returning to port for a day if the storm hits on disembarkation day. No worries. They will not put the ship or passengers in danger.

Re: Question about this Hurricane Arthur and cruises
We had been on a cruise out of New York around Hurricane Sandy. They canceled ports and we came back a day early. Sounds like they changed itinerary and are heading back after storm. I wouldn't worry about a thing. Other than possible rough seas your baby will be fine!

Re: Question about this Hurricane Arthur and cruises
I was on a cruise from miami to the Bahamas in 2012 when hurricane Isaac came thru. The captains & cruise lines are pros at this. They alter rhe course & itinerary if needed to sail a dafe distance from the storm. Our stop in the Bahamas was cut a little short, there was some seasickness going around & some craaaaazy listing one night but I never felt in ant danger. We did miss our flights home because the port was closed for several hours for safety. We ended up spending a night in miami (carnival paid) & flying home a day late.
Dont worry! They're all safe & having a blast!
