Re: Hospital Guests during/ after birth
My whole family and his family (immediate) were in the lobby. They didn't come in the labor room. I loved having them there and so did DH. It's a matter of preference.

Hospital Guests during/ after birth
Everyone says like no one can waltz in and out but my dad randomly walked in like three times. Not while I was pushing.
I would tell people that you'll call when you're getting closer so they don't have to sit there for 12+ hours. It seems reasonable.

Re: Hospital Guests during/ after birth
I did not want anyone in the room but my husband. Our parents and siblings all waited in the waiting room, came in at 3am to meet DS and went home to return the next day. That was fine by me. I feel bad bc looking back my mom really wanted to be in the room but in the moment I was in pain and didn't want it, this time I may let her stay but just her and DH lol

Hospital Guests during/ after birth
With DS I wanted no one there. I'm just not the come see me at the hospital type of person. However, I went into labor at 28 weeks. I didn't know I was in labor and within a half hour of getting to the hospital he was born. My mom and brother were there as were hubby's family. I was supposed to have an emergency c section but he came naturally so no one was in the delivery room. While I didn't want anyone there it wasn't just about me. They were there for hubby. Every one was expecting the worst since it was so early. DS was taken to another hospital and friends drove DH there. It was a very rough night. Now I am glad everyone was there for him. I didn't see anyone til DS was wheeled out to the ambulance . They were all kept in the lobby because we were in an emergency situation. It's hard to know what will happen when the time comes.

Re: Hospital Guests during/ after birth
I had a c-section planned (DS was breech) but went into labor unexpectedly. I was really glad my parents got to the hospital right as I was about to go into the OR. And MIL and my sister had arrived by the time I was rolled into recovery. I wouldn't have had it any other way. They were just as excited as DH and I were and I'm happy I was able to share this joy with our close family.

Re: Hospital Guests during/ after birth
With DD we told our parents that we were at the hospital once we were all checked in and knew we were staying. It was late on a Sunday so everyone came around 10am on Monday morning.
With DS it was early on a Monday morning and MIL and my mom came to stay with DD so they knew that we were going to the hospital and the way things worked out they all just came to visit on Tuesday afternoon.
I wouldn't have minded if they had shown up earlier but its just how the timing worked out. Its hard because you dont know how long you'll be in labor.
