VENT: OB/GYN Office Staff

I absolutely love my DR but his entire office staff is NASTY. The main woman who answers the phone and sits at the front desk acts like she's doing you a favor whenever you talk to her...but my REAL annoyance came this afternoon when someone called about my insurance being rejected saying that I wasn't covered for services. She kindly asked me if I could call my insurance carrier, which I did, and they confirmed I am eligible. I conferenced the woman from my DR office in so she could speak with the insurance company and they verified to her that I am eligible, confirmed the address she should be sending it to, the codes, etc. At the end of the conversation, I very kindly told the woman at the DR's office to please let me know how she makes out (obviously she made a mistake when submitting the claim) and she hesitated and in a very childish voice said "um, um, oooookkkkkkaayyyy." I lost it and I said "THANK YOU" in my equally childish voice and hung up.

I am sorry, but I did my part - and even went above what I needed to do to help her, but now its up to them. Obviously there is an issue on the DR's office end, so figure it out.

If I acted that way when clients called me, I wouldn't have a job.

I sometimes thinks DR's offices forget we are essentally clients.....

Ugh I really feel like this happens at a lot of Dr's offices. My last OB's office was the same. I switched because I didn't like the Dr. anyway but the women that work the office in my new Dr's office are the same... nasty mean women.

They've only been mildly snotty toward me but the way I hear them talking to other patients makes me angry. I would switch again but I really like this doctor.

I just try to limit my interaction with the staff. If I have a question and have to call, I ask to speak directly with the Dr. If they say he's busy, I just leave my name and number and wait for him to call me back. It's a lot easier then dealing with the women at the desk.

As an office manager this would drive me crazy if my staff behaved like that. That is not something I put up with. I'm so sorry you are experiencing this, do you love the doctor?

When I first found out I was pregnant and was looking for a new dr. a friend gave me a recommendation for a dr. her friend had loved. When I called the receptionist was SO nasty! I asked for a consultation, and she's like HA YOU DON'T interview OUR doctors. You're either a patient, or YOU'RE NOT. WE don't interview FOR YOU. And then had the nerve to try to get my information. I'm like uhm, I will not be using your office because of your attitude, and hung up. People can be such jerks.

I have found many doctors offices to have staff like this and I never understand why. My OB/GYN has a nice staff, thankfully, bc I really would lose it lol
