Math/Special Ed 7-12 Certified NO JOB!
I'm finishing up a leave replacement today, and have nothing set up for the Fall :( Anyone here that I can send my resume off to? Any help is appreciated. We just bought a home, and I'm worried about not making a paycheck all summer, and possibly in the Fall if I can't find a job!

Check OLAS for positions on LI. For NYC, send resumes directly to every school that interests you. Math teachers are hard to find, and your dual cert will be a bonus. GL!

I go onto OLAS daily, and apply to everything under the sun. I feel like degrees and certifications mean nothing these days, and it's all about who you know which is so frustrating :(

Did you apply to the school in Glen Cove I mentioned to you on LI Weddings? They're always looking for subs in the summer and they have a high school in Richmond Hill if you're willing to travel there. Pay isn't pretty good and it will get you through the summer until you can find something more permanent. FM me if you want the information again.

I worked in a district prior to switching to a non-profit. While people used to be hired on olas, now a days (2012 was my last year in a school) it's all about who you know. I will say if the job on olas gives you a direct contact/ mailing address then apply on olas and send it in. I would also try Catholic schools too... even though the pay isn't like that of a public school it is still a pay check!! :) best of luck to you!

How do you feel about Brooklyn? I could ask my DH if his school has an opening.

I go on OLAS everyday, but never ever get a phone call from them about jobs lol- I think I've gotten two interviews from OLAS ever

Do you have anybody you can ask to review your resume and cover letter? I would start with that if you're not getting calls at all. If you don't have experience yet, you may need to just try to get started with a sub or TA job first. Try contacting boces to see if they need any teachers or TAs in their summer programs.

With the common core regents, I would think many more students are going to require tutors. A majority of my special ed. students use a tutor to prepare for the regents. Get your name out there- especially in high performing districts where the pressure is really on.
