off the beaten path USA
i'm compiling a list of off-beat, quirky things to see and do as we drive west.
so far i've found Lucy the Elephant (right here in NJ). i also found the world's largest ball of twine.
do any of you know of any other "world's largest" or other quirky things to see?
thanks!

Totally look at the Roadside America website. It has it all, by state & you can see where everything is on their maps.

Also - make sure you see the Wall Drug Store (South Dakota), if you drive by that way.

I just came across this list and thought of you. It's the best things someone ate on a cross country road trip! http://www.seriouseats.com/2014/06/what-to-eat-on-road-trip-from-east-to-west-new-york-to-california.html

Re: off the beaten path USA
haha we were driving to Ohio and I made my husband stop at the worlds largest picnic basket. It was on the way! Well like 15 minutes out of the way but I wanted to see it!

I looked this up. If it's the one in NV it's the creepiest thing I've ever seen! And next to a cemetery

Re: off the beaten path USA
Look up "weird USA" and also they have a few guides devoted to certain states. I have driven (zig zagged style) cross country many times and used this

If you are in Arizona, go to Slide Rock State Park. It has natural water slides and was so much fun!!!!

Re: off the beaten path USA
Totally off topic, but I saw this on pinterest and immediately thought of you
Buy a map. Take a picture in every state you visit. Once printed, cut out each photo in the shape of the state you were in. Adhere to the map in place of the state, to show an interactive collage of your trip
