Spinoff to my TWW ?
I cannot seem to find any reliable (consistent) answer online to the following question:
When do the mother and the embryo start sharing food/drink/nutrition? In other words, when does it really begin to matter what the mother is eating/drinking so much so that it could affect he baby? Assuming that the mother has a reasonably healthy diet to conceive and hold a healthy embryo.
I see answers that range anywhere from "immediately as the embryo implants in the uterus" to 'a few weeks". But, is this a few weeks after implantation or ovulation?
I will probably have some follow-up questions, but I just want to put it out there and see what you other ladies have been told by your MDs. thanks!

Spinoff to my TWW ?
About 6 weeks. During the first few weeks, even up to and including week 6/7 baby is feeding off of the yolk sac. The placenta doesn't develop until later.
You are in the 2ww, don't live life any differently than you do in the 2 weeks or so leading up to O. Meaning, if you want to go out and have a few drinks, go for it!
ETA: It won't affect implantation or the baby.

Re: Spinoff to my TWW ?
My OB told me 6 weeks. And the reason he told me that is because I went in for my first appointment and told him- I'm very worried-I drank a lot before I knew I was pregnant." His answer- that is fine. Nothing to worry about. I said- "No you don't get it, I mean I drank. A LOT! Like a LOT!" He laughed and said it doesn't matter how much I drank at that point, that we wouldn't even be sharing a blood supply until 6 weeks and up until then the baby was just a bunch of cells multiplying.
That was good to hear because I had been drinking like a fish before I peed on that stick.

Re: Spinoff to my TWW ?
Every doctor I spoke to said 6 weeks as well. If you're in your 2ww and want to drink that's fine. I have heard that smoking and drug use can hinder conception and implantation but other than that, you're pretty much free as a bird with no worries of getting pregnant or hurting baby.
