ID tags on luggage

Do you have to have an ID tag on the outside of your luggage? I always have something inside the suitcase with our name/address/phone #. I worry about it being on the outside and people seeing it..... am I overly cautious? Havent travelled in quite awhile! Thanks.

I was like that at first too but I'd rather be able to identify my bags. We don't have our address on ours - just the phone number and name.

We put my DH's business card into our luggage tag. My parents do the same. We include our cellphone number on there. This way you don't advertise your home address, but there is a way to identify your bags and a way to contact you.

i just have a tag thats actually covered by a flap thats directy on the suitcase... and i never lock my luggage either.

I never used luggage tags but DH got NY Giants ones for Christmas and he insisted we use them. LOL

We just put our first names and our cell phone numbers on them.

I have luggage tags so that I can easily identify my luggage - big red leather circles with a white "M" in the middle.
My contact info is in there, the hotel/resort I am heading to then flipped over for the home info.
The tags can't be read easily - they have to be unbuckled in order for the info to show up.

I also put the info inside my luggage in case the tags get ripped off.

I also put a crazy colored ribbon on my luggage to identify it easy
