Increased Pulse Early In Pregnancy?

Hi - I am 6 weeks and my resting pulse has increased and it is driving me crazy. I called the DR and he said it is nothing to worry about at 80 bpm and that as the blood increases this will happen. I just find it so unsettling. Did anyone else deal with this? Just looking for some reassurance going into the long weekend..........
Thanks!

Increased Pulse Early In Pregnancy?

I never would have thought to check my pulse, lol. I'm sure it's fine if your doctor says so.

Re: Increased Pulse Early In Pregnancy?

I have an heart arrythmia - totally under control and actually never really happens anymore - BUT because of YEARS of torture with that, I'm soooooooooooo aware of my heart beat....even my cardiologist always would tell me that I am so much more aware of my heart than anyone else because of all the tests I went through - so I guess I just am sensitive to it haha lucky me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Mine was about the same, and usually much lower. I think it was because of anxiety about being pregnant again though. I'm terrible at being pregnant - get every bad symptom there is, so I was super anxious about it for a few weeks.

If you are that worried go to your cardiologist, just for peace of mind.

Re: Increased Pulse Early In Pregnancy?

I've had frequent bloody noses because of the increased blood flow. Especially when I am vomiting from the morning sickness. It's beyond annoying but apparently perfectly normal.

Yes I have the bloody nose thing too! And my veins everywhere are so much more visible. Oddly enough my blood pressure is lower.

Re: Increased Pulse Early In Pregnancy?

Normal as long as it does not go to high. You have an increased amount of blood while pregnant, so the heart has to beat a little faster to compensate for that. You can always have it check by the Dr to make sure all is normal, but 80 during pregnancy is good.

Re: Increased Pulse Early In Pregnancy?

Yep, I could literally hear my heartbeat pulsing in my ear especially if I was exercising at all. it was annoying. I too am sensitized to it though because I used to get panic attacks/racing heart feeling so I have to just remind myself its the increased bloodflow and not a panic attack.

Increased Pulse Early In Pregnancy?

Mine was slightly higher but usually I have a pretty low resting heartrate (~50-ish).

I have had this too. It is the increased blood volume and flow.

I have heard about the pulse in the ear before and I think it has a name. It can sometimes be due to low iron.
