Nursing Strike at age 1
DS just turned 1 and was still BF. He was getting cups of milk during the day and was nursing 3-4 times a day.
All of a sudden he has refused to nurse starting last night. He won't even attempt to nurse, he just arches his back and pulls away. I had to pump today and really hate it!
Any thoughts?
Does this mean he is done nursing for good?

Nursing Strike at age 1
This can happen when they get a little older and distracted. Dd kind of when through a small phase at 13mos. She'd latch on and then off. I didn't make a big deal and wouldn't make her. After a week it stopped.

Re: Nursing Strike at age 1
i had a similar experience at 11 months. i asked my LC and she said that self weaning around this age is highly uncommon and it was most likely something else. also, toddler nursing is a totally different ball game. for us, it was an issue with distraction and biting (related to teething). he got over it after a few weeks and is more enamored than ever with bf. keep offering in a quiet place! she suggested reading mothering your nursing toddler by Norma Jane Bumgarner
